Fire Escape Plan

The best escape route is normally the way in and out of your home
Make sure your smoke alarm works
If there is light smoke and you can see ahead, get down low and crawl to safety
If you have to travel downstairs, go down backwards
If you find the fire, don't try to put it out. Close the door and get out
Keep your exits clear. Remove anything that will get in the way if you had to leave your home in a hurry.
If you live in a block of flats, never use the lift if there's a fire. Always use the stairs.

Know your address. Remember, when you dial 999 the operator will ask for your address
